Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
Attractions at Walt Disney World
A stand up comedy show starring the famous Mike Wazowski – I will admit that when I first saw this show, I thought that seeing it a second or third time would not be exciting. However, I was wrong. Even visiting Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor a dozen times is as fun as seeing it the first. Even though each show has the same format, every show is different with new and funny material.
This interactive show allows you to text jokes before you enter the theater. Will they use your joke? The show also is interactive with plenty of audience participation.
FastPass: Available. Usually not needed.
HISTORY OF MONSTERS, INC. LAUGH FLOOR ATTRACTION
Location: Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom. The location of Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is after you cross the bridge to enter Tomorrowland from the Castle Hub. It is on the right-hand side and is located in the former The Timekeeper attraction.
Opening Date: April 2, 2007
The theater has 400 seats and uses digital puppetry technology. Live actors perform voices behind a digital screen. There are also digital screen projections that use the actors’ voices.
Set after the Disney/Pixar 2001 film, Monsters, Inc. Monstropolis has been running on laugh power. There is a need for more power, and Mike Wazowski opens up a comedy club. Humans enter the monster world and are entertained while the Monsters gather the laughs to convert into their much-needed electricity.
The only two characters from the movies are Mike Wazowski and Roz. There are a series of characters that come and do comedy sketches.
Although, the show is non-scripted, there are some common jokes that you may see. The theater’s cameras zero in on guests and add captions. And you will also see, “that guy.” In fact, Jeff was once “that guy.” This guest receives an “I was That Guy” Sticker at the end of the show.
Type of Attraction: Talking characters who perform a comedy club theater show
POTENTIAL SENSORY PROCESSING ISSUES INVOLVING
When you step inside the queue rarely you will enter into a building. Inside the queue winds around, and you watch a pre-show on television screens. They will pack you in so you will be standing next to other park guests. If this is a problem for your child, please talk with a cast member.
Once inside the laugh factory, you are in “Monstropolis” which is organized as a theater with rows of benches. Although the lights are dim, it isn’t completely dark.
Roz appears on the screen and yells at Mike. (Roz was always scary to our son).
Audience participation is encouraged. For example, when a monster says, “Hello, Humans,” the audience screams and waves their hands.
At the end of the show, the canisters fill up and make loud noises.
